Dental Lasers
What is Laser?
Treatment with Dental Laser
Dr. G makes use of the lasers in the following dental procedure:
- Cavities: To precisely remove sections of decayed tooth there by preserving more of healthy tooth structure.
- Tooth Extraction: Laser can be used to gently remove bone surronding the decayed tooth, there by making tooth extraction relatively stress free experience.
- Periodontal Treatment: Dr. G used lasers in deep scaling of periodontal pocket (space between teeth and gums) to treat as well as prevent the progression of periodontal conditions. With the help of lasers she can remove infected or swollen tissue, kill bacteria that causes gum disease, and help simulate faster recovery.
- Root canal: Laser is a very effective tool in root canal treatment, as it precisely targets the infected area, there by preserving more of health tooth structure, effectively removes the infected pulp from the canal and in doing so eliminates the infection.

Advantages of Laser Dentistry
Dental laser can precisely target infected areas, and hence have the ability to remove decayed tooth, bone, and gum tissue without effecting surrounding areas. In fact, some laser procedures don’t even require sutures. This helps patient retain most of the natural composition of teeth and gums since there will be less trauma to overall tooth and the surrounding gum structure.
Less Invasive, hence minimal pain and discomfort:
Dental Laser reduces or completely eliminate the use of drills in most of the dental procedures, this leads to less anxiety among the patient, and also results in minimal to no use of anesthesia. As a result, patient feels less anxious about their visit, this allows them to be relaxed there by making their visit a comfortable one, and focus on eliminating the dental issue and looking forward to recovery.
Minimal or No Bleeding and swelling:
Laser is a very narrow, highly concentrated bean of light, that is used to perform various dental surgeries. This highly concerted beam of light cuts as well as sutures the tissue there by causing minimal to no bleeding and there by reducing the swelling after the procedure
Faster Procedure, and Faster Recovery:
Since Lasers promote exceptional hemostasis (clotting of blood), patients most often won’t require sutures or stiches there by decreasing over procedure time. Healing is very fast, since Laser treatment causes little trauma to overall tooth and the surrounding gum structure, this allows for faster recovery than a traditional dental procedure.
Killing Harmful Bacteria:
As Laser is highly concentrated bean of light which can cut thru soft as well as hard tissue. It also helps sterilize the area they are focused on, by killing harmful bacteria. Due to this, there is less chance of complications and infections.
